About the restaurant and décor: Trendy wine bars come and go, but this Los Feliz neighborhood favorite has staying power. It’s largely due to owners Matthew Kaner (Silverlake Wine) and Dustin Lancaster’s (L&E Oyster Bar) passion for interesting wines. Subdued décor includes plenty of wood, a long bar and requisite dimness courtesy of industrial bulbs and candles.

About the wine: Amid this moody atmosphere, an eclectic mix of patrons --- striking young hipsters, mod Silver Lake moms, bearded dudes, parents on a night out --- find 150 wines by the glass. The sidewalk patio hangout spot with standing-room-only is ever-popular. People come here to drink wine (and craft beer, on tap), but also to talk about wine, especially when wine director Kaner is behind the bar engaging guests in exploratory tastings. There’s no wine list, but peruse the chalkboard and trust the friendly bartenders to offer something interesting.

About the food: Boutique cheeses and charcuterie like black truffle salami are good accompaniments, though a croque monsieur or tater tots with Sriracha will satisfy late-night munchies. The bar is relaxed much of the week, but can get packed on weekend nights.
