The Crab Cooker Restaurant Review:
This second Crab Cooker location isn’t as authentic as the original on Balboa Peninsula, but it still has the same flavor as the 50-year-old casual fish market across from Newport Pier. It’s an unpretentious, kid-friendly place with simple tables, paper plates and eclectic décor. When guests aren't coming by to pick up seafood from the in-house market, they’re flocking here to eat fish that’s reliably fresh and nicely cooked. On the menu is Pacific Dungeness crab, Alaskan king crab and king crab “killer” claws, Australian lobster and other fish and shellfish flown in from around the world. Regulars stop by often for a comforting bowl of Manhattan clam chowder. Key lime cheesecake highlights the modest dessert offerings. The wine list includes some nice California selections by the glass and bottle.
