Cravings Restaurant Review:
When you’re in the mood for carrot cake with caramel frosting for lunch and turtle cheesecake brownies for dessert, head to Cravings. Plenty of neighborhood college students and business types stop in for the sweets but opt for something heartier first, like the curried chicken salad on house-made bread or a wild mushroom tart with a buttery pastry crust. The adjoining bakery satiates any remaining hankering for sugar with dozens of treats, from its signature madeleines to a caramel ganache tart, owner Tim Brennan’s personal favorite. Cravings also serves dinner Fridays and Saturdays, and reservations are mandatory when the theater or opera seasons are in progress at nearby Loretto-Hilton Center. The evening ambience shifts toward elegance, with dishes like filet mignon and veal scaloppine and a pleasant selection of wines.
