Crest Cafe Restaurant Review:
Casual, with an Art Deco flair, this tiny spot offers a menu of mostly healthy fare, but also includes old-school diner favorites such as burgers, onion rings, casseroles and meatloaf. The massive breakfast/lunch/dinner menu is filled with tempting choices. Bacon-buttermilk pancakes (called "Midwestern Madness") are fluffy flapjacks studded with crispy bacon and topped with two eggs. We also like the chicken-apple hash. At lunchtime, it's hard to decide between the turkey-Brie sandwich (a sophisticated grilled cheese with tangy-sweet grilled onions) and one of the burgers, especially the "Billy’s" number with mushrooms, onions and Swiss. “Not Your Grandma's” chicken potpie combines chicken and vegetables in a spicy white wine cream sauce with a lemon pastry crust. Desserts mean homemade peach cobbler or deep-dish apple pie. Servers exude energy and add to the upbeat vibe. Food is served until midnight nightly, so it's ideal for late-night noshing.
