If you haven’t already heard about Keegan Gerhard, the chef-owner at D Bar Desserts, you’ve likely been living in a bunker. The pastry chef, best known for his regular appearances on Food Network, is a passionate pastry artist whose killer cupcakes, wedding cakes, birthday cakes, cookies and shakes lure a steady stream of dessert lovers to his contemporary Uptown sweets spot. But there's much more to this modern confectionery than just sugar highs. Don’t miss Gerhard’s savory creations: baked macaroni and cheese, steak frites, cheesy waffles paired with fried chicken, or Kobe beef sliders sided with Parmesan-dusted fries. There's afternoon tea, too, priced at $28 per person, complete with both savory and sugary bites, flaky scones and the appropriate accompaniments. Just be forewarned that if you want to partake in afternoon tea, reservations are mandatory and must be made 24 hours in advance.
