Ristorante Trattoria Dall’Amelia Restaurant Review:

Ristorante Trattoria Dall’Amelia has operated in the same place for nearly 100 years, and was a central meeting point in Mestre for many a celebrity in the past. A bit off the normal route when visiting Venice, and centrally located near the train station in the closest mainland town, it is but a 10-minute journey from Venice’s Santa Lucia station. Dall’Amelia reopened with a more intimate style interior, better suited for today’s dining experience, as well as different management and chef Loredana Gutu, but it did not forgo its reputation for seafood delicacies. Traditional Venetian dishes are served in a creative manner. Start with the typical “cicchetti,” Venice’s own variety of antipasti with a choice of a catch of the sea, or baccalà (stockfish) with saffron polenta. Another specialty is old Venetian-style sweet-and-sour sardines and shrimp. Choose from a different homemade pasta selection each day. To finish your meal in style, the chef prepares desserts with seasonal ingredients from local producers. Italian labels feature prominently on the wine list, with a good array of “Cantina del Giorno,” wines that are available by the glass.
