THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED de Mori Restaurant Review:

In July 2002, Silvio de Mori, after leaving his partnership at Café des Artistes and Mimosa, opened this new venue. It was then a pleasant trattoria. But now with the arrival of chef Stéphane Chevet, it has become a serious restaurant, and found its own identity. Since Silvio is from Italy and Stéphane from France, the duo has revamped the menu with modern Italian dishes influenced by Stéphane's French origins. Try the ahi tuna tartare with crunchy pine nuts or the burrata with marinated dried tomatoes for an appetizer. The steamed butterfish is so fresh and so well cooked that you will want to come back to have it again. We also like the tender veal chop lying on a bed of mascarpone orzo accompanied by a wild mushroom fricassée. Since Stéphane is an accomplished chef, he masters the dessert scene. The vanilla panna cotta is refreshing and elegant. The basil sablé with strawberries tossed with a 15-year-old aged balsamic is innovative and tasty. The restaurant offers a short but well-balanced wine list with Italian, French and California wines. You can also come for the special cocktails at the bar: 12 Champagne-based, 60 martinis and more than 20 specials; the nightly Venetian Cichetti, renamed by Silvio Italian tapas; or the Italian Sunday brunch, a great value at $20. Tuesday night is the Cheese Party. With the assistance of The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills, you will be introduced to the great world of cheese, and some of them will be paired with wine by the glass. Don’t be discouraged by the location in the Rodeo Collection, and appreciate it away from the crowds and traffic, surrounded by the palm trees, especially on the terrace during warm days. It is quiet at night, but don’t be deterred---you would be missing out on a very nice dining experience.
