THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Dish Restaurant Review:
Tucked into a former gas station, this spot offers one of the hottest tables for a weekend dinner in quaint Virginia-Highland. Inside, the interior boasts a shimmering silver finish, with artsy lighting by Chris Moulder over the generous bar. Outside, the covered patio is spacious and action-packed. In the kitchen, chef Sheri Davis imparts her energy and personality into clever, well-seasoned dishes. Menu offerings are divided into smaller "tastes"---the rosemary-pine nut popcorn is a perennial favorite---and slightly more generous "appetizers." A satisfying appetizer, served sufficient for two persons, is the crispy calamari with lemon and herbs, including just the slightest suggestion of mint. From the main dishes, look for fish dishes---perhaps the pan-roasted skate wing---or the duck breast. Vegetarians can count on being able to savor a worthy dish. The Dish wine list is adequate but not exciting.
