The District Restaurant Review: The Upper East Side has long been awash in both upscale destination restaurants and forgettable eateries. This handsome-looking, exposed-brick-clad, dimly lit gastropub mostly falls into the latter category. The menu is filled with pub-y classics, like a decent burger (though it could use a less intrusive bun), Gruyère mac ‘n’ cheese, diver scallops, and brick-pressed chicken accompanied by potato purée. There isn’t much in the way of dessert --- chocolate cake, anyone? --- so it might be wise to just order one of the reasonably priced cocktails or a glass of wine (all are available by the glass) from the not-so-impressive list. |
