: A relative of Pasadena’s El Cholo, this appealing fast-food concept offers a huge menu of burritos, gorditas, carnitas and more, served with freshly made tortillas. Tortas are also worth trying, and the fish or shrimp tacos are among the best in the Rose City. Other items you’ll never find at those ubiquitous chains are pudgy sopes, bowls of pozole and elongated huaraches (a sandal-shaped cornmeal base with various toppings). In the mornings, a wide variety of pan dulce treats (as well as European-style pastries) make Doña Rosa a great alternative to the donut shop. |
