THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Doughboys Restaurant Review:
Pizzas and sandwiches turn up in this funky eatery facing a Kentlands main square, offering kids and parents a casual, drop-in place for finger food and family fare. The drill: place your order at the back counter that shields the kitchen area, and snatch a table. Within minutes, your meal will appear, salads first. We find the plain Caesar (also available with chicken, beef or shrimp) lacking a well-seasoned dressing. The quattro formaggi pie makes little impression; for this to work, you need to be a fan of the thin-crust pizza. The braised lamb sandwich served on focaccia has great flavors. Other choices include a roasted turkey sandwich or the fruit sandwich---imagine bananas, kiwis, strawberries and pineapple as a sandwich topping. Desserts are minimal---tiramisu, bread pudding, gelato and something called a strawberry shortcake, which is actually a layered mousse.
