THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Dulcinea Cafe Restaurant Review:

Now that the high-end restaurants of the boom have subsided in the South of Market area, a new crop of wallet-friendly spots are opening up. These new spots, at the western end of SoMa, cater to casual after-work crowds and people out for dinner before a show at one of the many clubs and theaters in the neighborhood. Dulcinea Café is just one of these spots. Deep blue walls showcase local artists and photographers inside the welcoming dining room where happy, hip tables enjoy happy hour beers and well-chosen wines by the glass while munching on cheesy chicken quesadillas and grilled shrimp with a Thai peanut dipping sauce. A multitude of pastas command much of the menu ranging from linguini Bolognese to risotto with asparagus and mushrooms---all coming with the option of adding chicken or shrimp. American comfort food influences the main courses in dishes like Porterhouse pork chop with orange-sage gremolata and mashed potatoes, or grilled rib-eye steak accompanied by corn on the cob smothered in a chili-Parmesan butter. An apple-blueberry crisp or double chocolate pudding would be the best way to top off the evening.
