THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Eighty Four on Seventh Restaurant Review:
Set in the West Village on bustling Seventh Avenue, this diminutive eatery serves up seasonal American fare with a strong Italian accent. Indulge in one of the many house cocktails or a glass from the short Euro-stacked wine list and then dig into the fluffy sweetbreads or seared scallops paired with radicchio. The presentation of the dishes comes in a baroque form, with ingredients piled on one another---a kind of culinary ordered chaos. Such is the case with the fork-tender pork loin with fennel and apricot jam heaped on top, and crispy spätzle scattered around the plate. The grilled tuna swims in a pool of succulent lemon-spiked risotto. The charming owner Natalie Maroufi works the room, lending smiles to a good meal.
