How’s this for crazy: El Burrito Loco puts out grande portions of budget-priced food that's tasty and often vegetarian-friendly. (Take note of the lard-free refried bean and the veggie burritos that are well beyond a tortilla-wrapped salad.) There’s not much to speak of in the way of ambience, but guests from all over town appear at the door to agonize over whether they want chicken in green sauce, spicy potatoes with cheese or pork in red sauce in their burritos or quesadillas. There are some seasonal dishes, too, including a notable sweet potato soup that appears in the fall. Use a beer or El Magnifico Margarita to wash down specialties like chicken in mole, and order tres leches cake for dessert. No lard, no peanut oil, homemade guacamole; the family that owns this eatery is loco like a fox.
