El Condor Restaurant Review:

El Condor swooped in to replace the former El Conquistador on Sunset Boulevard, and while the old Silver Lake haunt was a beloved local favorite, it’s undeniable that both the food and cocktails are indeed improved. Owner Dustin Lancaster (Covell, L & E Oyster Bar) has maintained a nostalgic nod to the old space; he's also layered on top a chic hipster vibe laconic enough to suit the neighborhood --- think Frida Kahlo/gold-padded stairwell/lots of glass and tile. The airy dining room, funky upstairs bar and pleasant front patio offer nice options. Signature margaritas are tasty, and the unpretentious Mexican fare is a cut above, largely thanks to flavorful tortillas (and chips) made from organic, handmade masa. Farmer’s market produce, grass-fed beef, Jidori chicken and Niman Ranch pork are also ingredients that lend bright, clean flavors to the notched-up menu of tacos, tortas, quesadillas and enchiladas. A rock ‘n’ roll iPod mix flows along with a long list of tequilas and mezcals, a few of which can set you back a pretty penny. Flights are fun for exploring, and the flan is good to soak it all up, or soothe your sweet tooth.
