El Floridita Restaurant Review:
Armando J. Castro founded this Havana-like Cuban supper club in 1987. The drinks are cool, the food is hot and so is the live weekend salsa music. Start with the empanadas filled with ground beef or chicken and served with plantain chips. The menu offers Cuban greatest hits like the ropa vieja (“old clothes” in Spanish) --- shredded beef sautéed with tomatoes, garlic and spices; breaded, fried steak topped with sofrito (slow-cooked tomatoes, garlic and onions); and cod cooked Spanish-style with potatoes, onions and peppers. If you’re feeling flush, consider the Spanish paella Valenciana, loaded with chicken, pork, sausage, clams, lobster, shrimp, whitefish and crab legs. To drink, there is a small wine list, but the more appropriate choice is a house mojito. For dessert, partake in a slice of tres leches cake or flan.
