El Norte Mexican Grill Restaurant Review:
It looks like a hippie’s version of a fast food joint, complete with unmatched chairs, strings of colored lights around the wood-planked ceiling, and tacky flea market-type finds on display, El Norte even describes its décor as early transitional post-modern garage sale. It also describes its food as the best dang knock-your-socks-off, stand-up-and-scream-at-the-sky, eye-popping Mexican food in Plano... El Norte might serve up plenty of hyperbole, but its food IS pretty dang good, especially anything involving its mesquite-grilled chicken, as tender and tasty a bird as you’d ever want to sample. Enjoy it simply served in one-half chicken portions, or shredded up in quesadillas or enchiladas. The guacamole’s nice, if rather tame, as is the salsa (kick the queso up a notch by adding a couple spoonfuls of the salsa.) Good news: tamales, usually a Mexican New Year’s specialty, are served here year-round.
