El Picador Restaurant Review:
This Spanish restaurant has been held by the same family for three generations. The grandson of the first owner, Manuel Frigola, is at the stoves, while his wife receives in the dining room. The menu proposes a short selection of tapas, such as fried smelts and local delicatessen. Well-rendered are such Spanish favourites as mussels drenched in saffron and tomato sauce, zarzuela and squid in cuttlefish ink. But highly recommended is the mixed paella, served with seafood, spare rib, chicken, chorizo and lardon, which is the chef’s specialty. He slightly caramelizes the rice at the end of the cooking in order to highlight the flavors. Nice Catalan cream for dessert. With plants and red velvet chairs, the rustic décor yields a relaxed atmosphere.
