El Tamarindo Restaurant Review

: The rolled and filled pancake-like snacks (pupusas) served here are terrific---tender wrappers enfold a variety of fillings from beans to cheese to pork, and a combination of the same. The other house specialty is cilantro chicken, but it's just a dish of cubed breast, doused in liberal amounts of oil and butter speckled with cilantro, and served with the ubiquitous scoops of beans and rice. Other options include a chorizo taco, chiles rellenos or the tortitas de carne, beef patties stuffed with cilantro and spices. Besides being an ultracasual neighborhood kind of place, El Tamarindo has the unique distinction of being open from 11 a.m. to 5 a.m. daily. Also located at 1785 Florida Ave. NW, Washington, DC, 202-328-3660.
