Given that Mission Valley is booming as vibrantly as downtown San Diego, it might be expected that there would be an avalanche of restaurant choices in the area. Not so, which makes this small, pleasant Mexican eatery even more of a treasure. The cuisines of Oaxaca and Puebla are specialties, and not only does the salsa have a good, sharp bite, but the kitchen makes a mean chicken in mole sauce. There are many vegetable-based specialties, as well as fine carne asada and subtly sauced enchiladas. The Margaritas pack a punch, but even so, the mood usually is quiet and dignified.
