What could have been a gingerbread-like setting in an old house in the town of Northville has instead been brought up to date with a vibrant color scheme and other contemporary touches by chef-proprietor Rick Halberg, whose restaurant, named for his daughter, may be somewhat off the beaten track but is nonetheless one of the best in town. Those who appreciate a very ambitious menu will find foie gras here as well as imaginative touches throughout the seasonal menu. The menu is à la carte, with a special four-course fixed price array on Saturday evenings only. Typifying the upscale approach are such dishes as balsamic roasted fresh duck with sweet potatoes and vanilla bean purée served with rapini, and porcini flour-dusted pan-roasted veal chop with Yukon gold potato cake. Arugula salad in black olive vinaigrette typifies the equally imaginative salad choices. In addition to a chocolate tasting, house-made desserts include a fresh fig turnover with lemon anglaise and chèvre ice cream. The wine list is almost daunting. Suffice it to say that wine fanciers will be pleased.
