Empire has the most delicious bread and other baked goods, but let’s not neglect the dilled egg salad on sourdough, the chicken salad with toasted almonds and celery on walnut scallion bread, and the roast beef and horseradish on onion rye. Opt for one of the side salads instead of chips (we like the penne pasta with sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese, scallions and toasted pine nuts in a balsamic vinaigrette.) and choose a slice of lemon poundcake for dessert---a feast for $10! Plan on getting your food to go, as just two of the locations have seating inside, and these tables are usually full.
