THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Epazote Restaurant Review:
In an otherwise nondescript pub-like room, paintings of traditional Mexican Catrinas bring to life this neighborhood spot. Using techniques borrowed from French cooking, the chef creates new Mexican favorites like duck tacos and spinach soufflé. Other dishes are less successful, like the tasteless skirt steak or the guacamole made tableside, one time perfect and another lacking the proper balance of jalapeños, cilantro and avocados. Cocktails riff on mezcal and tequila and are potent and satisfying. The dessert of guava gelatin presents a distinctive taste and textural sensation; don’t miss the chocolate-jalapeño ice cream.
