THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Erwin Restaurant Review:
Seasonal and creative changes, though subtle, are an important part of the culinary mix at this welcoming restaurant, which may not be the newest game in town but is certainly a longstanding one. Come expecting dishes like Gorgonzola-stuffed, bacon-wrapped dates with apples, frisée and cider vinaigrette, and Scottish salmon with creamy horseradish turnips. Or, maybe duck confit with basil sausage, parsnip purée and bacon-flecked cabbage. Meat eaters, on the other hand, might luxuriate in the comfort of wood-grilled flank steak with chipotle barbecue sauce or a (dynamite) burger with hand-cut fries and homemade pickles. The farmers market pies are always sweet-tooth-worthy, but then again so are the fruit crisps when served warm with ice cream. In all, this is a restaurant with appealing American food that doesn't paint the plate red, white and blue. Service has its moments, but it gets the job done. The wine list is flush with selections from a number of boutique wineries.
