Esme Restaurant Review:

The rustic wood façade of this Greenpoint restaurant opens into a charming interior with a dining area characterized by hardwood floors, light blue stools, platform wooden booth seating and a comfortable counter bar. The New American menu features creative twists on international classics. Borscht salad with Brussels sprouts, potatoes, pickled beets and horseradish dill is a balanced blend of sweet and spice. The black sea bass entrée with black lentils, leeks and garlic is on the small side; still, the aromatic flavor combinations are inventive. In contrast, the pork belly Cubano with shaved Westphalian ham, melted Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard and french fries is crispy, meaty and generously portioned. The wine list consists of varietals from the Old and New Worlds including an herbaceous Alsatian Gewürztraminer and a crisp Chardonnay from Bourgogne.
