Eventide offers an ever-changing array of oysters and shellfish fresh from the Gulf of Maine. The bright colors, picnic table seating and reclaimed nautical lighting create a playful and casual spot for everything from a cocktail after work to a late-night snack. If you like oysters on the half-shell, you’ll find 10 varieties from Maine and nine others “from away,” served with a choice of accoutrements, from a standard cocktail sauce to pickled gingered ice or horseradish ice. Entrées are predominately seafood and include lobster stew, lobster rolls and Gulf of Maine hake, not to mention fried oysters on a bun. But meat eaters can choose from buttermilk fried chicken or house pastrami, crispy shredded pork or Thai fried chicken. Top your meal off with the pie of the day or fun desserts like an ice cream sandwich, good ol' Maine whoopie pie or frozen banana with peanut brittle, puffed rice and Maldon salt. The wine, cocktail and beer lists feature options from around the world, but we go for the locally crafted Maine Beer Co Peeper Ale, which pairs perfectly with fresh oysters. Open until midnight nightly, this is an ideal spot to start or end an evening.
