Fauchon Restaurant Review:

Tourist-friendly Fauchon sits amidst a collection of gourmet food purveyors --- its neighbors include Caviar Kaspia, La Maison de la Truffe and Hédiard --- in the shadows of the stately neo-classical Madeleine church. This massive flagship location includes not only a bakery and gourmet shop, but also a produce market, formidable wine cellar and full-service restaurant. Among the signature pastries turned out by Fauchon’s army of bakers are éclairs in traditional chocolate, coffee or caramel, as well as more daring flavor combinations with pop art aesthetics. Also available are opéra cakes, millefeuilles and an individual Paris-Brest (the pastry filled with praline cream is named after a famous bicycle race). If you’re staying in Paris and need to entertain, Fauchon is a one-stop shop, offering platters of hors d’oeuvres and foie gras, along with full-size versions of the Paris-Brest and pyramids constructed from the shop’s signature éclairs.
