Fido Restaurant Review:

For locally roasted coffee, Nashville turns to Fido, a comfortably worn-in coffeehouse and study spot for Vanderbilt students in bustling Hillsboro Village. Brightly colored walls, whimsical art, cases filled with tempting baked goods, and well-worn floors set a casual but not scruffy atmosphere. The line wrapped about the counter daily also points toward the good food, which includes Latin treats such as huevos cubanos with salsa and avocado over hash browns. At lunch and dinner, the kitchen turns out reasonably priced seasonal delights. Filling, healthy salads such as The Big Chop (a confetti of chopped vegetables including red, yellow and poblano peppers, golden raisins and lemon-sultana dressing) give way to bigger bites including the excellent burger with a lamb and beef blend, caramelized onions, and fennel-and-fig aïoli. Share a mammoth slice of cake for dessert, such as the Pink Radio with its fuchsia icing colored with beets. There’s a small but interesting wine and beer list for after-coffee hours.
