THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Fifty Seven Fifty Seven Restaurant Review:
Fifty Seven Fifty Seven is suitably dramatic considering its locale in the neo-gothic, I. M. Pei-designed Four Seasons Hotel New York. It's impossible to ignore the 22-foot-high ceilings, intricately patterned maple floors and sleekly modern brass-and-onyx chandeliers that adorn the room. The food is consistently well-prepared, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and heart-healthy dishes which are indicated on the menu. To feel like a chic powerbroker, come for the superb breakfast or join a mixture of hotel guests and foodies for dinner. Starters might include a lobster consommé or Hudson Valley foie gras with mango caviar and rhubarb cloud. Entrées range from stuffed Colorado brook trout with melted leeks and crispy angel hair potato to a sampling of vegetarian Asian cuisine featuring spring roll, tofu salad, stir-fry and mushroom broth with dumplings.
