Fireside An American Tavern Restaurant Review

: Fireside jettisons the stuffiness of the stereotypical hotel restaurant by creating a lounge-style atmosphere. Muted earth tones, an airy interior and a long sleek bar result in an inviting space for guests of Crowne Plaza Costa Mesa and locals alike to drop in, grab one of the topnotch cocktails and chill. The contemporary cuisine straddles the line between gastropub fare and high-end dining. Small plates, among them the duck confit fries and the grilled flatbread with barbecue chicken and smoked Gouda, are flavorful, while entrées such as a center-cut pork chop with house-made apple sauce and the citrus-glazed seared salmon are nicely balanced. Plates of beer-battered fish ‘n’ chips and the burger with bacon, heirloom tomato and Dolcelatte & Taleggio cheese are winning choices for those who want something straightforward. Desserts like the butterscotch pot de crème are ideal finishers. Early risers and traveling business types can start the day with a mix of classic breakfast items.
