Flinders Lane Restaurant Review:

Flinders Lane, named after a street in Melbourne, serves up “Mod Oz” cooking in the East Village. Chef Chris Rendell and his team of Australian servers treat guests to a menu of Aussie delights including kangaroo loin, barramundi (a flaky white fish) and lamb cutlets, all imported weekly, as well as traditional sausage rolls and meat pies. The tasting menu with a pairing of Australian wines is the way to go, and includes both Australian and Asian-inflected dishes like coconut curry laksa with grilled shrimp, bean sprouts, tofu and rice noodles, and diver-caught scallops with a side of braised hijiki. To cap off your dinner, an authentic flat white (Australian coffee) is de rigueur as are Australian ice creams in flavors like lemon myrtle, Milo (an Australian malted chocolate drink), wattleseed (from the native Australian acacia tree) and ANZAC crumble (biscuits crumbled and then folded into ice cream and named for the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps).
