Floriole Cafe & Bakery Restaurant Review:

The golden brown homemade pastries that owner Sandra Holl brought steaming to Green City Market find a loyal following at this airy bakery and café in pristine Lincoln Park. Channeling rustic flair, her training at Tartine Bakery in San Francisco and her husband’s French heritage, Holl keeps the oven cranking with sweet treats, from fresh chocolate almond croissants soaked with rum and oozing with almond cream to a chocolate pot de crème. Don’t discount the savory side of the menu. Crisp, Werp Farm-sourced greens lightly dressed with vinaigrette complement flaky, deep-dish quiche layered with bite-size ham. Share (or not) an order of the avocado toast, smeared just so and specked with thin slivers of radishes. Patrons are a mix of snackers who grab galettes and baguettes on the go and leisurely diners holing up with their smartphones and laptops over specialty coffee and the tartine du jour. Brick walls and hardwood floors summon the classic feel of the neighborhood.
