: This long-established Kill Devil Hills eatery draws locals and visitors alike with dishes that take their cues from the Mediterranean. Begin with sautéed baby clams and blue mussels in a white wine-garlic sauce, golden calamari, or a spinach-and-Parmesan pie with wild mushrooms. Traditional salads and a soup of the day --- scallop and shrimp chowder, for instance --- also make good starters. Among the seafood entrées offered nightly are pan-fried Carolina crab cakes, and jumbo shrimp and grits with smoked Gouda and scallion oil. Specials may include panko Parmesan-crusted halibut with lemon beurre blanc or grilled cobia with lump crab meat and hollandaise. Other standard options include a seafood cioppino, herb-crusted rack of lamb and Brandt beef filet mignon with Gorgonzola butter. Save room for desserts such as the peanut butter hurricane or sweet potato cheesecake. |
