Forgetmenot Restaurant Review: Born out of a Greek food truck, Forgetmenot is a Lower East Side hipster haunt filled with mismatched tables and chairs and walls crammed with incongruent knickknacks. Two rooms are narrow and dark, creating a nice intimacy. The kitchen serves up glorified sports bar food (though there are no TVs, fortunately) including nachos, a juicy steak panino, a lamb gyro, and feta-topped bruschetta. As the evening goes on, the place begins to feel more and more like a dive bar with food as people come to drink --- eating becomes something that’s done simply to prolong a night of imbibing gin and tonics. |
