Fork Roadhouse Restaurant Review:
Heading towards the coast on a windy, one-lane road several miles outside of downtown Sebastopol, be sure not to miss Fork Roadhouse. An intimate country farmhouse set back a few feet from Bodega Highway, it’s a good place to fill your belly before heading onward. Chef-owner Sarah Piccolo has been on the road for years with her successful food truck and catering business, but customers now rejoice in knowing where to find her fresh, local organic food. Sit at the glass-checkered counter where front-row kitchen views reward. A quieter room in the back allows for overflow and overlooks a bloom-filled patio, another delightful venue on warmer days. Served through lunchtime, breakfast options are aplenty, including a creamy polenta bowl with local chèvre and poached egg, and peanut butter and banana french toast. Other midday offerings are the short rib hash with caramelized onions and fried eggs (also available as a vegetarian retrofit) and the flavorful Moroccan lamb burger with house kraut on a brioche bun. The fun doesn’t stop there. Dinners include chicken paillard with sage brown butter and smashed potatoes, and grilled prawns, squid and diver scallops on fennel-leek farro. A short but admirable local beer-and-wine list complements the “homey” menu.
