Franchia Restaurant Review:

A spinoff of Koreatown favorite Hangawi has a similar approach: to nourish the mind and body through healthy food. The dining space is marked by a traditional imperial Korean design structure of dark natural grain wood and Asian decorative elements crowned with an intricate ceiling mural; all of this adds a splash of vibrant color and artistry. The eclectic menu features Chinese, Korean, Thai and Japanese selections. Begin with small plates like Franchia summer rolls (tofu, mushrooms and vegetables in a lettuce wrap) or an assortment of vegetable dumplings, which include spicy kimchi and "meat" varieties. Entrées run the gamut from noodles and rice to stir-fried vegetables and mock "meat." Choose sizzling spinach noodles that come simmering in a cast iron plate or a vegetarian take on bibimbap. Bring the meal to a soothing end and settle back with an infusion of wild Korean green tea and a slice of blueberry coconut cake with a scoop of soy vanilla almond ice cream. The beverage list includes soju cocktails, mocktails, vegan wines and sakés.
