THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Franklin & Company Tavern Restaurant Review:

This appealing neighborhood tavern fits the humming Franklin Village strip of East Hollywood to a tee. Vintage whiskey barrels, Edison light bulbs, tile and lots of rustic wood absorb a rock ‘n’ roll playlist and plenty of lively chatter. With sibling Oaks Gourmet around the corner, it’s no surprise that the craft beer and the list of Scotch, bourbon and whiskey are outstanding. Draft brews range from witbiers to triples, ales and weighty stouts, but aficionados will savor the long reserve beer roster featuring the likes of Firestone Abacus (barleywine aged in bourbon barrels) or Russian River’s Supplication (brown ale aged in French oak barrels). Whiskey selections number more than 75, and include many small-batch bourbons. Tasting flights vary from basic to esoteric and are highly recommended, as the staff is knowledgeable and likes to share insight. An American gastropub menu is updated with fava bean hummus, ahi tartare tacos and a big Brussels sprouts salad tossed with arugula, kale and bacon. Duck-fat fries, Scotch egg and blue cheese tater tots are ideal with beer; our favorite entrée is the house-smoked chicken brined in Arrogant Bastard Ale. Dessert? Whiskey bread pudding, of course.
