The Franklin Grill & Tavern Restaurant Review:

This casual, 50-seat eatery is located in a charmingly restored 1800s, two-story mill that's part of the Franklin Historic District. The menu reflects what's locally sourced and seasonally available and includes an upscale pub line-up loaded with hearty homemade soups and daily specials, ranging from quiche to fish 'n' chips. Sweet potato fries are a good lunch side when teamed with the salmon BLT and turkey challah made with freshly roasted turkey breast, smoked bacon, mozzarella, tomato and avocado spread. There's more sophisticated comfort fare as well, including Burgundy strip steak, Parmesan-encrusted whitefish and chicken potpie. Dinnertime selections include meatloaf blanketed in rosemary-infused gravy and accompanied by mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli, and a vegetarian paella. For dessert, try the apple pie parfait or the flourless chocolate cake. There's also a nice selection of by-the-glass wines, splits and half bottles in all price ranges. Come to the bar during happy hour Monday through Saturday from 4 p.m.-6 p.m., when drinks are $5 and appetizers are $3.
