Gaja Moc Restaurant Review:

One of the more interesting Japanese restaurant imports is the savory cook-it-yourself pancake concept called okonomiyaki, and a practitioner is Gaja Moc, located in a Lomita strip mall. The menu is a long one, listing pork cutlet and spicy mussels, plus seafood steam pots, noodle bowls and the thin pancakes called monjya. Some of these dishes are intriguing, but first-timers shouldn’t bypass okonomiyaki. Batter-bolsterers include mushrooms and spicy shrimp, and the more daring beef tendon and squid. Don’t let the tabletop griddle go to waste. Cook it yourself (laminated instructions guide each step): it’s more fun and elevates your visit from meal to experience. After cooking the okonomiyaki, top it with semi-sweet red soy sauce, mayonnaise, seaweed or dried fish flakes. At lunch, an assortment of mini versions is on special. For dessert there are parfaits, mochi ice creams and shaved ice topped with condensed milk, fruit and bean pastes.
