Think neighborhood café and then envision the wild and wooly South End. What you end up with is Geoffrey’s, an agreeable confluence of bar, bistro, deli, and coffeeshop. Walls the color of clovers provide a semi-dramatic setting for the eclectic line-up of creative loafers who fill the café nightly; everyone seems to love the fact that the floor-to-ceiling windows allow for both seeing and being seen. The enormous menu both suffers and shines because of the kitchen-sink approach. Calvados chicken liver paté, shrimp with curried coconut cream, Brazilian flank steak, couscous, cheese melts---and there’s plenty more where all that came from. The quality of the food is as varied as the selection, so stay simple if you want to stay satisfied.
