THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Gingko Leaf Cafe Restaurant Review:
This sweet Park Slope Japanese restaurant and home design store is a real mom-and-pop operation: The owners are sculptor Toshio Sasaki (he did the First Symphony of the Sea wall relief outside the New York Aquarium) and his wife, Miyo. The food is appropriately homey, with comfort foods like unagi (broiled eel) and chicken katsu coming in bento boxes. It's all good. The service can be maddeningly slow and amateurish, but the good-natured vibes manage to overcome. And in summer, the tranquil garden designed by Toshio (there's even a mini waterfall) can sooth even the most frayed nerves.
