: This Brookline branch of Chinatown’s semi-legendary sushi spot is larger and more stylish than its parent, but has less character. A vibrant mixed crowd of locals, largely suburban preppies and B.U. students on dates gather at the sushi bar to see chefs in their white coats and hats cut and roll their treasures. Boiled edamame and a sampling from the massive sushi menu is a nice start before moving on to a deep-fried mini spring roll filled with shrimp, scallop and octopus. Beef tataki is sliced thin and served rare with scallions, and pairs with a spicy ponzu sauce for dipping. There is also a good selection of tempura and teriyaki, but we suggest the stone-grilled yellowtail with soup, salad and rice. Stir-fried thick yaki udon noodles are a must, presented with assorted vegetables. |
