THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Girin Restaurant Review:

The stone hallway on the ground floor of the Pioneer Square building could be the welcome room to a spa, but the calm is interrupted only by the decision to turn left for the spacious bar, or right, toward the open-kitchen restaurant. Once ensconced on either side, diners may choose from the extensive drinks list, which includes house-made Korean liqueurs, saké and shochu, nearly a dozen tap handles (Korean classic to local microbrews), wines that wander the world and eclectic cocktails. The food menu is slightly more focused, centering on ssam plates (lettuce wrap platters) and combination dinners, both infused with Korean-inspired flavors for meat-centric dishes and arriving with small sides called banchan. Appetizers sometimes present twists on items familiar to anyone who’s spent time in Korean restaurants, evident in the seafood pancake and gochujang chicken wings. Noodles continue the pattern by bringing in local ingredients, as in Dungeness crab japchae; house-made dumplings, called mandu, round out the menu. Desserts don’t stray far from the theme --- think sesame-coated rice-cake balls filled with sweet red bean paste.
