![]() : South African expatriates Wayne Saxe and Howard Aaron bought this Atlanta institution more than 20 years ago, and have grown it into a substantial enterprise. The house makes the cream cheeses, baked salmon spread, egg salad, chopped chicken liver, and specialty items from knishes to pierogi. Bialy breads, salt sticks and bagels as well as sauerkraut, whitefish salad and even pickles pour forth from the kitchen. Deli sandwiches (try the Reuben), some of which come in two sizes, and kosher hot dogs on good buns are reliably first-rate. Goldberg's does breakfast all day. We like the corned beef hash with poached eggs and a hit of hollandaise, and whopper omelets are three-egg affairs. Pick up a casserole for dinner on busy "no cook" nights. Don't miss the cross-cultural specials, such as Reuben-stuffed egg rolls. Biltong (South African jerky) is also found here. Other locations. |
