Great Basin Brewing Co. Restaurant Review:
The flagship Great Basin Brewing Company on Victorian Square has been a locals’ favorite hangout for live music, food and hand-crafted beer since 1993 when Tom Young, a former geologist, transformed his part-time passion as a home-brewer into a full-time dream. Together with his wife and co-owner Bonda, Young's enthusiasm for good food and brews has resulted in the brewery's Ichthyosaur India Pale Ale, named for the state fossil and known as the “Icky,” becoming practically a household name in Nevada. Seasonal ales keep the brewery menu fresh, but it’s the beer-infused cuisine, from the crispy fish ‘n’ chips made with the Wild Horse Ale to the traditional shepherd's pie crafted with Jackpot Porter-braised lamb, that has made the restaurant a success. Great Basin packs in the crowds with live music on the weekends and features a lively outdoor patio during the summer. From beer aficionadas to the after-work crowd to visitors looking for a night out, Great Basin Brewing fits the bill. Also located at 5525 S. Virginia St., Reno, 775-284-7711.
