THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Brazilian barbecue plays big in the Washington area, where value for money makes a difference. Here customers can eat all they want from the salad and entrée bar and from the skewers of grilled meats carried from table to table by waitstaff. Salads include the usual greens, grains, pastas and beans, tossed with seasonings and dressings, but the entrées are more authentic and include fried yuca, oxtail stew, chicken with garlic, farofa, mashed potatoes, fried bananas and rice. As for the grilled meats, your choices may include chicken, sausage, pork loin, bacon-wrapped turkey, lamb, duck, rabbit or beef ribs. Desserts are a truly lackluster selection of cakes and pastries and worth skipping. Somber, with its dark woods and formal furniture, Green Field lacks the spirited gaucho flair you might expect for such informal eating.
