As one might expect, this warm, masculine place --- all black leather banquettes and caricature-adorned mahogany walls --- is a favorite among Mag Mile shoppers, who flood the spacious, meat-minded dining room in search of familiar sustenance. Polished hardwood floors, crisp linen-topped tables and smooth jazz tunes are among the decorative trappings Chicagoans have come to associate with restaurants of this ilk. The menu does not disappoint, delivering meaty lump crab cakes with velvety beurre blanc and popcorn shrimp with a Cajun-tinged tartar sauce. As for the steaks, they’re Prime; we recommend the buttery filet with onions and bordelaise. Comfort fare can be found, too, so don’t rule out the chicken potpie or fall-apart braised short ribs, both well wrought --- if ubiquitous --- finds. A handful of seafood and pasta dishes are among the other selections. To drink? An ice-cold vodka or gin martini, depending on your persuasion. Be sure to take advantage of the valet parking, which is $9 with validation.
