THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Gringo's Cocina y Cantina Restaurant Review:

In the heart of Pacific Beach, Gringo's serves contemporary regional Mexican cuisine from the regions of Baja, Yucatan, Oaxaca and Veracruz. The atmosphere is festive, sometimes raucous, but the food is somewhat sedate. We like the langosta Puerto Nuevo, made with rich, nutty macadamia butter and served with mâche. The camarones borrachos---drunken shrimp---come with sticky rice and a delicate tequila sauce. Standard fare such as fajitas, burritos and carnitas give less adventurous diners plenty of choices. Instead we opt for the mole sampler and the tampiqueña---filet mignon medallions smothered with roasted onions, poblano chilies and manchego cheese. Desserts are rich, especially the banana burrito, a deep-fried, cheesecake-filled curiosity that we can't resist.
