![]() : LA tacophiles have flocked to the original Boyle Heights Guisados for rich stewed tacos, where a neighborhood crowd always keeps it real. At this sister location in Echo Park, local hipsters spill out of the little dining room onto a garden patio pushed against the hillside. About a dozen savory stews are slow cooked to melting tenderness, and nestled onto warm handmade corn tortillas. If you can't decide, the sampler --- six mini tacos covering chicken, pork and beef territory --- is a crash course. We're partial to the cochinita pibil topped with crunchy pickled red onions, and the chicken mole poblano. Vegetarians have nice options, too, from hongos (mushroom) with cilantro to calabacitas (squash) to the most mouth-numbing chiles torreados. Cool it down with a fresh cantaloupe melon agua fresca or a cinnamon horchata. Service is friendly and fast. Other locations. |
