Tile floors, dark woods, crisp white tablecloths and vividly-colored artwork lines the walls of this New Orleans-inspired restaurant in the super swanky Crescent Court. Not usually the atmosphere that comes to mind when the menu embraces the catfish, gumbo, etouffée and red beans and rice that embody down-home Louisiana cooking. But here, these staples are done with finesse and served with style after a complete menu overhaul. The gumbos are thick, rich, and well-seasoned, catfish comes a half-dozen ways from blackened and topped with crawfish in a tarragon sauce, or smothered with glazed sweet potatoes, or pan-seared with a potato crust. And, for those who always want to know where the beef is, they’ll be delighted with the tenderloin, whether served simply with a pepper sauce or fancied up with crab meat, shrimp or mushrooms. Leave room for the killer South Louisiana bread pudding and don’t be shy about sharing the ample portion of this dense, rich bomb.
